Kaimosi Teachers College remains
the premier institution of P1
teacher training in the country.
Trainees are selected from all over Kenya and have to meet the minimum requirement which is grade C(plain) at Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (K.C.S.E).
The Dean of Curriculum’s office is charged with the task of overseeing implementation of core – curriculum activities at the college. The core-curriculum is organized in 13 subject areas together with the vital teaching aspect.
To qualify for the award of P1 certificate, a candidate must pass in practical teaching; and take all the eight (8) subjects and obtain a pass in all the subjects.
Currently, the certificate is categorized on the basis of aggregate points as follows;
Pass with distinction –Between 8 and 19 points,
Pass with credit-Between 20 and 43 points while ordinary pass – Between 44 and 59 points.
The subjects are categorized in seven departments.

BEST PTE CANDIDATES
The college is known for producing some of the well trained teachers who are currently teaching in the wider East African Community.Most of our teachers are pursuing further studies in either Diploma or degree courses.
However , the college did not do perform well in 2015 PTE Examinations due to the coming of the University. Our programmes were interfered with and indeed our students experienced a culture shock ; thus the dismal achievement away from the norm.
To surmount the challenge, students and staff have resolved to work smart to take the college to its greater heights guided by the college motto; KNOWLEDGE IS THE HILL OF VISION. Indeed we are determined to uphold our college vision of producing
a totally integrated sensitive and dynamic teacher.
Teachers who will teach learners to think critically and inspire them to have a desire of acquiring more knowledge. In addition, teachers who will endeavor to awaken the expectations and dreams of their learners and at all times be good role models to the learners.
Besides the P1 course, we also offer Early
Childhood Development and Education for both Diploma & Certificate levels.
The
minimum entry requirement for the diploma examination is that candidates of any age may enroll provided they possess any one of the following;
- KCSE C
(plain)
- KCE Division II
- P1 Teacher Training Certificate.
- Atleast D+ in KCSE with KNEC.
- ECDE Certificate or Ministry of Education
- DICECE Certificate.
All diploma candidates
must pass teaching practice ,project and the six subjects to qualify for the award of ECDE diploma.
On the other hand, the minimum entry requirement for the Certificate examination is that candidates of any age may enroll provided they possess any one of the following;
- KCSE D+
- KCE Division IV
- Primary Teacher Education
- P2 Teacher Training Certificate
- At-least KCPE Certificate and must have
passed proficiency Test administered by KNEC.
All Certificate candidates must pass teaching practice and the six subjects to
qualify for the award of ECDE certificate.
